Ana Grammer
I specialize in helping gifted children and adults building vocabulary geared toward word game competitions (with specific emphasis on Scrabble competitions, both in North America & Europe). Comprehensive services for early childhood, elementary school students, and teens, and even adults. I provide in-home, on-campus, and over over Skype tutoring. My interests in the field of education include: Spelling Bee competitions, Scrabble competitions, gifted education, English language learners, increasing rigor for all students, instructional technology and 21st century skills, increasing student ownership of learning and building meta-cognition, the intersection of teaching and cognitive science/implementing the learning sciences, teacher education, instructional assessments. I have worked many years as a private tutor to numerous gifted individuals in India, US and Canada. I developed academic English and content vocabulary in English language learners and bilingual students at levels beyond 3-5 in their English language development. Designed and taught three courses for students ages 6-11 at Summer Institute for the Gifted, which is a nation-wide program that provides academically advanced students with an interesting and challenging educational experience. I have devised various strategies specifically geared towards Scrabble competitions. I have also designed software that is currently used by my students to find Scrabble Words and fine tune their skills.
