A medical anthropologist with more than fifteen years of experience working in the health industry, Samantha has worked in the non-profit, public, and private sectors designing research projects for a variety of clients, including Genentech, McKesson, Philips Healthcare, Abbott, AbbVie, and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health. She has a successful track record of research grant funding, including the Wenner-Gren Foundation and the National Science Foundation (NSF), among others. Her own research focuses on the public acceptance of new health technologies.
Drawing on her research on Merck's human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, Gardasil, she has published in Medical Anthropology Quarterly and is contributing to an anthology on biomedical resistances. Her new work looks at self-tracking practices among type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients.
She's always game for projects that look at how users engage with innovation, whether material or digital.
