Sean Swart

Sean Swart originates from Clarkfield, MN, graduated from high school in 1991, and enlisted in the Navy immediately. Once he completed basic training he continued on to Pensacola, Fl to attend Aircrew Candidate School, from there he proceeded on to Millington, TN. for Aviation Structural Mechanic School. He continued on his journey to Brunswick, ME for survival training and then on to his first squadron, VP-30 in Jacksonville, FL. Once he set his roots in Florida, he did not leave for 13 years. During his tenure in Jacksonville, he started out as a utility crewman and towards the end of his time he became a P-3 Flight Engineer. It was there that he qualified as a full-system Quality Assurance Representative and Instuctor Flight Engineer. At the completion of this tour, he was sent to VP-30 to be a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor. Upon arrival at VP-30 he was promoted to the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer. During that tour at VP-30 he served as the Flight Engineer Program Curriculum Manager, Ground Turn Operator Instructor, Command Physical ReadinessTraining Coord., and Command Drug and Alcohol Program Advisor. As he was nearing the end of his tour at VP-30 he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Once promoted, he finally cut the cord and ventured on to Brunswick, ME where he met his beautiful wife, Heather, and her daughters, Hannah and Ashley. Immediately upon getting married, it was back to Jacksonville for his first tour away from the Mighty Orion where he worked for NAVAIR Program Management Office. Finally, after 19 years he ventured out to the pearl of the Arabian Gulf where he assumed the position of the Assistant Maintenance Officer and LCPO for CTF 57.

During his 20 years in the Navy, he has earned his Journeyman's Certificate, as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, a multisystem quality assurance representative, was an Instructor for 14 years and earned his Master Training Specialist designation. Finally, nearing the end of his career, he completed his BS degree in Workforce Education, Training and Development and his Defense Acquisitions Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) level 2 Program Manager Certification. He is currently pursuing a dual Master’s degree with the University of Maryland University College. He will complete his initial Masters of Education in Instructional Technology in December of 2011 and progress into his Masters of Distance Education.
