As a student in high school, I was introduced to marketing. With a few friends joining the high school’s marketing program I decided to give it a shot. Through programs like DECA I was enlightened about how important marketing really is for a business to thrive and grow. Knowing that creating a brand, and attracting customers plays such a pivotal role in the success of a company instantly drew me to this sector of business. Furthermore communicating with others, and being able to affectively deliver a message has always been a strength that I have had, and this fact only drew me closer to the area of study, and led me to recently declare marketing as a major.
Being from Boston I have always been a sports fan. Wither it was the Red Sox, Bruins, patriots, or the Celtics I have followed with a pride that can only be found in New England. With the success that our teams have had it has been a very exciting time to live in the area. I am a sports radio junky and often find myself calling into weei to discuss issues that the teams may face. Throughout my life I have not only loved watching professional sports, but I also loved to play. In high school I played hockey, tennis, and baseball. To this day I still play these sports recreationally. I have found that I have made some of my best friends on the ice, courts and field. Just like in life, sports require teamwork and comradery. With my passion for marketing and sports colliding I would love to someday work for a marketing department of a professional sports franchise. The opportunity to create, design, and present campaigns to reinforce a team’s brand and excite a fan base would be truly amazing.
The Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst has been amazing thus far, and I am excited the business school is gaining recognition. The amount of resources that are offered are truly amazing. This program has allowed me to explore my passions and further them.
