My name is Sean Barnes, I am a third year student for the University of South Carolina business school, and also a student that is currently taking a professional communication class among other business courses. As a Finance major, I hope to graduate and receive career opportunities relating to this field. Graduate or law school is also something I have definitely considered pursuing after I receive my first degree. Global supply chain and operations management has also been something of potential interest.

Regarding my blog, taking a professional communication class has introduced me to word press. I expect to learn and practice skills that strengthen my written and oral communication. My hopes are to gain confidence to proficiently speak and write in different class and work situations. Blogging will allow me to express ideas and opinions that relate to class topics.

Having already taken English 101 and 102, I have some experience with critical reading, research based writing, and rhetoric. I also have been lightly involved in technological classes such as Multimedia production, CAD drawing, and Excel. On the subject of social media, I definitely understand it has value as a communication tool. I also see the benefits it presents with business. I have had a presence and frequently use sites such as Facebook and Twitter on a personal level, but would like to start having more of a professional identity on social media. I hope this class can guide me in doing so, and that my blog will be an effective tool and learning experience.
