Sean Elias serves as the Chair of the internationally award-winning Department of Performing Arts at the Jemicy School, Upper School. Sean also serves as the Artistic Director of Iron Crow Theatre, Baltimore's award-winning queer theatre. Sean Elias is the founding Chair of the Department of Performing Arts at the Jemicy School Upper School and is the second Artistic Director in Iron Crow Theatre's 10 year history. Under Sean's leadership both the Jemicy School and Iron Crow Theatre have broken every record either institution previously held. As a professional actor Sean Elias has worked Off-Broadway at the New Victory Theatre in Times Square, on tour, and in equity theatres across the northeast - including The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. As a director Sean has directed multiple critically-acclaimed and award-winning productions for Iron Crow Theatre, Jemicy School, The Kaufman Music Center and the historic Theatre 80 in New York City. Most recently, his production of Peter and the Starcatcher was chosen as 1 of only 11 productions from across the US and Canada to be invited to perform on the main stage at the 2019 International Thespian Festival. Sean was also recently named one of Baltimore's 30 Visionaries by Baltimore Magazine for his work with Iron Crow Theatre and its impact on the greater Baltimore region. In 2017 Iron Crow Theatre was named best breakout theatre by Baltimore Magazine and Best Professional Theatre by MD Theatre Guide's Readers' Choice Awards. As a Tony Award nominated educator, Sean Elias has worked with the renowned Center Stage Theatre as a Resident Teaching Artist, as well as in public and private schools, universities, and community outreach programs across the country. Sean also serves as a coach to organizational leaders and independent consultants, from Fortune 500 companies to small arts organizations. M.A., Theatre Education, Emerson College.
