Since 2020, Sean Mallander has worked as an educator in Henderson, Colorado’s School District 27J, where he has helped implement the Freshmen Academic Success Together (FAST) curriculum for students who need extra academic, social, and emotional support. In addition to teaching biology classes, Sean Mallander serves as a member of the Freshman Leadership Committee and helps first-year students develop strategies for success.

Previously, Mr. Mallander spent 6 years as assistant principal of Jefferson High School. Charged with management of the building and all staff members, he utilized the Discovery model to facilitate conflict resolution when necessary. He also conducted data analysis to gauge the effectiveness of various student learning programs.

Mr. Mallander holds a bachelor of science in kinesiology from New Mexico State University, where he worked with the manager of the exercise physiology lab to co-author several research studies. He also has a master of science in exercise science with an emphasis in sports pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado. In addition, he holds an educational specialist degree (EdS).
