Sean Mayes

I have always been a determined individual. Before college I served four years with the United States Marine Corps operating as both an infantry assault-man and a Scout Sniper. My experience consisted of traveling the world, working with many different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. I instructed, supervised, and coordinated teams of all sizes, all while accomplishing complex tasks. As a Scout Sniper, I worked with the intelligence department gathering information and performing reconnaissance missions in support of combat operations.

My motivation is deeply rooted in my desire to succeed and do the absolute best in every endeavor I undertake. It leads me to achieve the highest level of education, and is demonstrated by my achieving the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, and being promoted to lead engineer while interning for NASA at Goddard Space Flight Center. It led me to join the Honors College at Oregon State University, and has influenced my decision to develop a unique and challenging senior design project, Platform for Autonomous Multi-Vehicle Communication and Coordination (see a description on linkedIn).

I am motivated, task oriented, and extremely excited about my field of interest. Autonomous Robotics, Artificial intelligence, and Machine Learning are just the beginning. The next great technological step may be right around the corner and will do more than influence our lives, but will revolutionize society. I am a man with a vision, tested perseverance, and desire to contribute to the future of our world.
