Sean-Michael Smith

Smith is an award-winning writer, director, and producer who has been a filmmaker his entire life. With his passion for both narrative and documentary filmmaking, he has been involved in all nearly all aspects and has worked substantially in most departments of a crew and cast, above and below the line.

Early on, Smith acted in theater in high school in northern California, before transitioning to television and film acting during the period he lived abroad in Stockholm, Sweden. During this time, he began dialogue coaching other actors, as well as script polishing work on feature films. In Sweden and Denmark, Smith worked with directors Lars von Trier (Dancer In The Dark, Breaking The Waves), Thomas Vinterberg (The Celebration, It's All About Love), and Harald Zwart (Karate Kid 2, Hamilton) before returning to California.

Smith attended the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, receiving his MFA in Production in 2010. He produced the feature film Pete Smalls Is Dead and several award-winning short films, commercials, and music videos. Beyond development of several projects for film and television, he is currently directing commercials, music videos, and web series.
