Sean Nam

Sean Nam, born Sangwoo Nam, is a computer science major with a minor in business at the University of California, San Diego. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he grew up in a small town in Missouri, attended international school in Seoul, and then completed high school in southern California.

Sean is interested in new technologies and is passionate about start-ups. In his spare time, he likes to read good novels, watch funny TV shows and good movies, learn new things, and hang out with his friends. He also loves to travel, and has been to Toronto, Canada, across the U.S. and more recently, toured Western Europe, Hong Kong, and Shanghai in the summer 2012, New York City for Thanksgiving 2012, and Cambodia in winter 2013.

Although Sean had little programming experience coming into college, he did mess around with iOS app development in Objective-C as well as customizing blog themes in HTML and CSS for a few years. He maintain a website, blog, and four iOS apps in the AppStore. Ever since, he has been learning JavaScript and Python through Codecademy, Ruby on Rails through CodeSchool and OneMonthRails, and C# from a fellow classmate, all while taking an introduction to Java class for his major. He is always expanding his knowledge and adding new skills, like C/C++, Photoshop, Illustrator, and AutoCAD, to his toolbox.
