As I near the end of my academic and athletic career at the University of West Florida, I look forward to gaining experience in the field of professional athletics that will allow me the opportunity to learn from and work with professionals within the sports industry. I am looking forward to acquiring an internship experience for the summer of 2015 in order to contribute to a great organization’s success, becoming part of their team, as well as reinforcing my educational experience.
During my tenure at the University of West Florida, I was constantly challenged on and off the field of competition. Not only am I pursuing my B.S. in Sports Management, I was also given the opportunity to be a part of and contribute in a substantial way to our university's basketball program. I believe that this opportunity has led me to possess skills and abilities most people do not attain. The experience has taught me accountability, how to be a leader both vocally and by example while serving as team captain, as well as a hard work ethic that I will carry with me well into my professional career. Most of all it has taught me the true meaning of respect, both how to give it and what you expect to be given in return.
With that being said, I believe the knowledge I have attained through my studies along with taking part in several unique and highly beneficial experiences is what makes me ready and willing to take the next step towards my professional career and goals. Some of these past experiences include volunteering for our Athletic Department during our annual Spring Fundraising Phonathon, raising an upwards of $100,000 in donations during a few weeks, gaining valuable sales and management experience while working for Just Fitness 24/7 as a Membership Sales Consultant, and being an assistant coach for a sport workshop for young children at the University of West Florida Youth Basketball Camp. I plan to apply the things that I have learned and transition them into the work environment, bringing with me a flawless attention to detail and relentless work ethic.
With an expected graduation date of December 2015, I am eager to use my degree in Sports Management in order to help an organization fulfill its current and future goals. I am very excited to put all that I have learned into action and work alongside a truly professional team.
