I am a artist working in various clay bodies, eathernware, stoneware, and porcelain and firing techniques. Currently Raku and saggar fire is of specific interest and focus. Raku means living in harmony with things and people. From the 16th century Japanese tea bowls raku is removed from the kiln when it reaches the enamel fusion temp of 920-940 degrees covered in sawdust, catches fire when it touches the object.

Deep in the earth the destiny of humanity and vegitation is played out in this process of birth, death, and rebirth. Working with clay is like working with flesh that turnes into bone. It includes every element earth, water, fire and wind to become the functional piece, vessel, sculpture. My body learns from the feel of it and the creative process of firing the pottery is meditative. My interest are many including encaustic, painting, stained glass and working with mixed media.
