Dr. Sebastian Lattuga

Affiliated with the North Shore-LIJ Health System, Dr. Sebastian Lattuga regularly treats patients with diseases of the spine and chronic pain caused by spinal issues as well as performing myriad surgeries to preserve or restore their quality of life. Dr. Lattuga serves as Chief of the Division of Spine Surgery at North Shore-LIJ’s Franklin Hospital, which has received numerous recognitions for the quality of its care, including The Joint Commission’s Ernest Amory Codman Award.

In 2009, Dr. Sebastian Lattuga undertook an emergency spinal surgery at Franklin Hospital that saved a woman’s life and enabled her to walk again. Dr. Lattuga performed a laminectomy, which removed swollen tissues and vertebral bone in her neck to relieve spinal cord pressure. By the next morning, the woman could move her legs, and after six weeks of physical therapy could walk on her own again.

In addition to his work with North Shore-LIJ Health System’s Franklin Hospital, Dr. Sebastian Lattuga manages a private practice, New York Spinal Specialists, with offices in four New York locations: Lake Success, Kew Gardens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. He treats patients for a wide range of spinal-related conditions, including scoliosis, myelopathy, sciatica, and chronic pain in the neck, back, arm, and leg. Dr. Lattuga provides patients with traditional surgeries and minimally invasive procedures as well as nonsurgical treatments including steroid injections, physical therapy, decompression, and medication.

Dr. Sebastian Lattuga holds board certification as an orthopedic surgeon and completed a fellowship in spine surgery. To keep current in his field, Dr. Lattuga belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the Medical Society of the State of New York and the North American Spine Society. In addition, he holds membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Nassau County Medical Society. Dr. Sebastian Lattuga, licensed to practice in the state of New York, also maintains a high New York State Workers’ Compensation Board rating. At his private practice, he sees a number of patients under union insurance plans, worker's compensation, and no-fault insurance, and has served members of the Iron Workers Local 40, the Local 264 Transport Workers Union of America, the United Steel Workers Local 285, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 295.
