SEFA KARAHASAN He has been an active member of “Gazeteci Milleti” since 1998. He is currently working as a columnist/representative for Milliyet newspaper. Karahasan was born in Giresun-Bulanacak in 1982. He started his journalism career during high school in 1998 at MIL-HA (Milliyet News Agency). The same year he also worked as the Giresun Representative of the Black Sea newspaper. In 2000, Karahasan worked as a journalist in DHA (Dogan News Agency) as a result of the merger of MIL-HA and DHA. Also in 2000, Karahasan went to Cyprus for his University education and worked respectively as; a reporter/cameraman for ART, as a reporter/news editor/journalist at Kibris Genc TV and as a news manager at Kanal T. Sefa Karahasan managed Halkin Sesi Newspaper, the newspaper founded by Dr. Fazil Kucuk, the leader of the Turkish Cypriots and which is the oldest and most established newspaper, for 2 years as the Editor In Chief. He also worked as the managing editor at Star Kibris newspaper. Karahasan, hosted and prepared a political show at Kibris Genc TV between 2008-2010. In 2003, as the Cyprus negotiation talks went underway, he started working as the Cyprus representative of Milliyet newspaper and alongside with this position he also worked as the Cyprus journalist for Radikal newspaper for a while. Karahasan also got his article published in the Posta newspaper. Sefa Karahasan is also currently the editor for the Milliyet Cyprus Team. Karahasan has also been among the first to interview people such as the TRNC Founder President Rauf Denktas, the 2nd President Mehmet Ali Talat, the current TRNC President Dervis Eroglu, Previous (Cyprus) President Dimitris Hristofyas and the current President Nikos Anastasiadis. Karahasan has been awarded the “High Achievement and Honor” award in 2008 by the TRNC yearly event where the “Best” get awarded. He is also a member of TRNC Journalism Council, TRNC Foreign Journalism Association, TRNC Newspaper Community, TRNC BASIN-SEN (Journalism Union) and Trabzon Newspaper Community.
