Semira Parks

Student and Intern in Atlanta, Georgia

Hire me

My name is Semira Parks, and I’m a rising 10 grader. I am currently an intern at Raising Expectations, Inc., where I’m responsible for working on developing leadership and business skills while learning about myself and post-secondary plans. I enjoy spending time with friends or staying in the house to read, draw or take care of my brothers.

During school, I participate in afterschool activities, such as tutorials on every other Thursdays and Raising Expectations. My strengths include showing responsibility and good citizenship, working well in groups, as well as good communication and active listening. I do hope to improve all of my skills as I continue grow and become an adult.

My mom and her mom are my inspiration. I’m the only girl out of 7 boys and they both want what’s best for me. As I get older, it’ll be my turn to take care of them after they’ve taken care of me for all these years. I know that going to college would make my mom and the rest of my family proud. I would be proud of myself because I get to live the life I want as an adult and most people where I’m from don’t get to do that because they chose the wrong path to follow.

After high school, I would like to go to college and get a Bachelor’s degree in biology. In the mist of my years going to school, I would volunteer at a hospital nearby. When I successfully finish my years studying in biology, I plan to go to medical school. I want to become a pediatrician because they play a very important part in the healthcare field for children. They treat illnesses, diseases and infection within the youth. This field in medicine is important to me because it would help me better the lives of children.
