Senthil Balaji

Born on 21 October 1975 in Rameswarapatti village, Karur district, Senthil Balaji hails from an agricultural family. He completed his schooling in government and municipal institutions across Karur before pursuing a commerce degree at Karur Government Arts College. His political journey began during his student days and steadily grew into a full-time public career.
He was first elected as MLA from Karur constituency in 2006 and later served multiple terms, also representing Aravakurichi. From 2011 to 2015, he held the portfolio of Transport Minister in the Tamil Nadu government, where he focused on strengthening public transportation services. After joining DMK in 2018, he was appointed Karur district secretary and subsequently took on wider responsibilities.
In 2021, he became the Minister for Electricity, Prohibition & Excise, leading initiatives such as renewable energy expansion, rural electrification, smart meter rollouts, and infrastructure upgrades. His leadership emphasizes inclusive governance, rural development, and citizen welfare.
