Due to popular demand, I've started my new blog "Professional Matters". All your Health Law, Legislation, and Professional questions answered. Check it out, let me know the answers you want to those questions you never thought you'd have to ask. #health #legislation #pharmacist
This week I will be mostly fielding questions of interest, so let me know if there's anything you'd really like to know.
I will answer such questions as…
When is it ok to be on someone’s electronic health record, what is appropriate disclosure, what do you need to do, how access is audited and enforced, and who can do it?
Regulatory Body Case law and review; The Alberta College of Pharmacists (or any other province, I will point out the legislative similarities and differences when applicable), College of Physicians and Surgeons, Nurses, any regulatory body I feel inclined to comment on… I will discuss the:
- implications,
- process,
- Accountability to the public: Privacy implications and publication of reports. The balance.
- when it’s mandatory to complain,
- what’s the difference in admissibility of evidence or burden of proof for a regulatory body proceeding or criminal court (or civil, or court or appeal etc).
- What you need to watch out for,
- legal scope of reprimand,
- What’s next,
- and who do you go to if you think procedures have been broken…
- Legislation, helpful hints and information everyone should know, but no one seems to know!
Employment Law for health professionals; know your rights, red flags, and what to do when you think that there’s something that is very wrong in your workplace…
