Serge Raphael
LLM Candidate in Beirut, Lebanon
Growing up in Lebanon, I witnessed firsthand the consequences of instability, corruption, and weak institutions. These realities, rather than discouraging me, inspired me to pursue law as a tool for reform and justice. My legal education at Université La Sagesse, combined with practical experience in courts, embassies, and NGOs, has strengthened my commitment to bridging the gap between law and governance.
Through internships at the Embassy of Cyprus in Beirut and with the Reform Platform, as well as my involvement in electoral observation, I have gained exposure to both domestic legal challenges and the workings of international institutions. These experiences have not only improved my skills in research and analysis but also deepened my resolve to contribute to a more transparent society.
I now aspire to advance my legal studies to deepen my understanding of the principles shaping modern legal systems. My ultimate goal is to contribute positively to the Lebanese legal landscape by promoting meaningful reforms and enriching the body of legal knowledge in my country. I believe law is a constantly evolving discipline, requiring adaptability, innovation, and a commitment to ongoing learning. I hope to strengthen Lebanon’s legal framework and support the pursuit of justice within society through further studies and engagement.
