Sergey Petrossov
Entrepreneur and CEO in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Awarded Forbes 30 Under 30 in Consumer Technology and South Florida’s Top Working Professional by the Sun Sentinel, Sergey is always seeking out ways to innovate industries. A serial entrepreneur who has co-founded three technology companies, with his most recent venture JetSmarter being successfully acquired by Vista Global.
Petrossov immigrated to the United States when he was four years old. He graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in business administration and finance. Being an entrepreneur by nature, he has always been curious about creating value in industries through innovation. With this mindset, Petrossov has defied conventional wisdom and marched to the beat of his own drum. Even during his college days, he recognized that the best education you can receive happens outside of the classroom.
When he was 18, Petrossov got involved in his first startup, a company that delivered audio and video solutions for online customer service interfaces. His experience in developing this tech solution showed him how easy and rewarding it can be to innovate new technologies. His next venture came soon after graduating from the University of Florida when he co-founded a cloud-based distance learning platform for schools and universities and sought to deploy it in Eastern Europe. It has since been deployed in a number of Russian higher education institutions.
In 2009 Petrossov came in contact with private aviation and served as a board advisor to a private jet operator based in South Florida who at the time had the world’s largest on-demand Gulfstream charter fleet. He hated the brick and mortar approach to booking charter and saw the industry as the last multi-billion-dollar travel frontier that has not gone online. This led him to founding JetSmarter in 2012, which has served over 200,000 passengers from inception to acquisition in 2019.
When asked what kept him so focused on success throughout this 20s, Petrossov cites his unflagging ambition: "I think some people just have the drive and passion for what they’re doing. That’s the most important thing for entrepreneurs. If you have a real, deep drive, no matter how much you’re knocked down, you can always get your head up."
Even with his success in business, much more is in store for Petrossov. One thing is for sure he hasn't slowed down and will only be speeding up in the years to come.
