Sergio DuBois

New Jersey

Sergio DuBois is pianist and multi-instrumental musician who also plays guitar, flute, sings and enjoys recording in his studio. As a child he pretended to read music while actually employing perfect pitch to learn the pieces of his brief classical piano training. As a teenager he taught himself guitar and had a band with Michael Malinin who went on to be the drummer of the Goo Goo Dolls. While studying mathematics at the University of Chicago, he met a Jazz pianist (who was a janitor at the University by day) and inspired him to love Jazz. He briefly attended the University of Miami Jazz Program before switching to a degree in Computer Science, but hung out in the practice rooms for another few years before anyone caught on. When he moved to New Jersey in 2000, he started studying with Joanne Brackeen. Today Sergio records in his home publishing through SoundCloud, and performs regularly in local Arts Organization concerts in his home town of Atlantic Highlands. Lately his dream is to start a Delta Bluesband in the tradition of Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy, and might tell you with a straight face that he’s on “a mission from God” to do that.
