I grew up as an artist, athlete, and academic in Long Beach, CA. I graduated from Stanford with a B.A. in Human Biology, and from Brown with a Masters in Teaching. I taught math and science at Sacred Heart Schools in Atherton, CA; Big Picture in Providence, RI; and Aspire Public Schools in Oakland, CA.

In 2005 I founded Tutorpedia, a K-12 one-on-one tutoring company based in San Francisco. To provide free tutoring to students most in need, I established the Tutorpedia Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 whose mission is to provide high-quality, personalized tutoring to underserved students.

I believe that learning needs to be more real, relevant, and rigorous, with a singular focus on personal relationships.

I want to create a Class of One for every student.
