Sarah Farnand

Sarah Farnand is an English as a New Language (ENL) teacher and Educational Technologist in Rochester, New York. Her main interests include all things related to teaching English Language Learners (ELLs) using innovative EdTech tools. She was a member of the Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC) for the NYS Education Department from 2017-2019. She is passionate about student learning, particularly as it pertains to ELLs.
Sarah has been teaching for over 14 years and has taught in a variety of school districts in the Wayne-Finger Lakes region and Rochester area. She received a B.A. in Psychology and Inclusive Education and an M.S. Ed in TESOL from Nazareth College. She currently holds NYS Professional Certifications in TESOL (Kindergarten-Grade 12), Early Childhood and Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 6), as a Middle School Generalist (Grades 5-9), and as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 9). Sarah has also taught ENL classes overseas in India. She worked as a Fulbright-Nehru English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India from June 2014-March 2015. During this time, she had the unique opportunity to integrate educational technology approaches to teach and co-teach English classes for 35-46 elementary and secondary, 5th through 8th standard students. In her current roles as a teacher trainer, ENL advocate, and website & UX designer, she continues to utilize technological tools to create authentic learning experiences for a variety of audiences.
