Samuel Gardner III, M.A.
Journalist in Dallas- Fort Worth
As an experienced Managing Editor with over two decades of expertise in broadcast journalism, content management, and newsroom leadership, I am passionate about shaping stories that inform, engage, and inspire. I have a proven track record of leading high-performing teams, managing editorial operations, and delivering compelling content across various media platforms.
Currently, I lead a dynamic newsroom team at CBS News Texas in Fort Worth, Texas, where I oversee day-to-day editorial decisions, guide the production of impactful news coverage, and mentor staff to ensure journalistic excellence. My role requires a sharp eye for detail, strategic communication skills, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure—especially during breaking news situations. My goal is to ensure that the news we produce is not only timely but also accurate, ethical, and reflective of the community we serve.
In addition to my role in broadcast journalism, I teach Communication Ethics at Seton Hall University, where I help the next generation of media professionals navigate the complex ethical challenges in journalism. I design and lead courses that challenge students to think critically about their role in shaping public discourse and to apply ethical reasoning in their decision-making.
I also have extensive experience in newsroom management, team leadership, and curriculum development, having designed and implemented internship programs and mentored numerous aspiring journalists throughout my career. Whether I’m leading editorial teams or guiding young media professionals, my focus is always on fostering creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
Outside of my professional work, I am deeply committed to advancing the journalism field, sharing my expertise through workshops and speaking engagements, and contributing to initiatives that promote responsible media practices.
