Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir
Thursday Nights, Heffron Hall - Darlinghurst
Sydney Gay And Lesbian Choir (SGLC) was formed in 1991 and is recognised as an award-winning organisation who welcome participants regardless of their sexual identity or musical understanding. Over the years this organisation, under the direction of Sarah Penicka-Smith, has grown in membership and audiences, appealing to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersex, queer and our straight allies. As a charitable institution, they rely on members to participate in all aspects of the choir: as choristers, section leaders, work group members, backstage hands, administration assistants or committee members. Thus, the majority of this organisations funding is obtained from low membership fees, hiring out the choir for a fee or local sponsorship. Andrew Dunn, SGLC Communities Coordinator states the choir seeks ongoing support from members, local patrons and friends.
