Steven Greenstein

I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and lived there until 2000. At that point I had earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Georgia State University, taught high school at The Galloway School and Paideia for a total of five years, and married a fabulous woman. Then, I moved to Austin, Texas, where I lived for ten years (nine of which were spent earning an M.S. in Mathematics from Texas State University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from The University of Texas at Austin). By the time I finished my doctoral degree, we had two kids, I was exhausted, and my wife wanted a beach. So we moved to St. Thomas where I worked for two years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of the Virgin Islands. The place is gorgeous and the people are genuine.

Now I'm an Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences at Montclair State University. It's a very good gig. The work is very well supported by the university and the work/life balance is reasonable.

In addition to enjoying the work and the family, I enjoy cycling – great workout, great outdoors, great place to think. Fortunately, it's also a respectable way to be in the environment.
