Management and/or security as a career path are not right for everyone. You have to appreciate responsibility, enjoy working with people and you have to be able to deal with uncertainty and making decisions even when you do not have time to know all the facts. Sometimes, management earns more, but the pay rate is justified.
However, when it all comes together; when all the effort is put forth and it produces results, it produces profit not only for the company but for the employees, as well. Management can be frustrating, and a lot of hard work, but it has been a good vocation for me.
In my experience, the whole point of managing is to get things done. Everything else follows from there. I have benefited from criticism and learned to take it gracefully, even when I may have disagreed with it. In the end, it was a valuable tool to realize about how others saw me as an employee.
