James Wimbish

Born & raised in rural south/central Virginia. Joined Marine Corp at age 17 July 1962. Involved in Cuban Crisis and was afloat the USS Boxer during a Haiti/Dominican flair up in 1963. Transferred to the elite 1st Marine Brigade at Kaneohe Bay 1964. Called to duty in Vietnam 1965. Served at Phu Bai, participated in first American major offensive (Starlight) and later went to Chu Lai to help protect the Marine temporary airfield. Many night ambush patrols! Came home to a hostile American anti war crowd and tried to blend in by getting married, procreating and working with one company for 38 years until they fired me in 2005. Nepotism can be brutal. At peace now and enjoying my beautiful family.
