Shadi Kassis
Born 14 October 1983, Damascus Suburb is a Syrian musician and composer.
Graduated as a sound engineer with a diploma from the Hofa Hochschule in Germany.
Studied music at DHS and worked hard to identify different musical styles while searching for the peculiarity of percussion instruments and integrating his own style of playing each instrument. Musical member in several Syrian bands and a member of the Syrian Artists Syndicate.
He was always looking for strange percussion besides oriental percussion instruments and how to make them usable with jazz for example and other types of music, which I learned myself later. I have always been interested in this composition which I developed later and this type of music and also the so-called later oriental jazz
His first music project was called Kitchen Beat. The idea of the project lit up while I was cooking in one of the ancient Syrian monasteries "Dair Mar Musa al-Habashi" and there was a starting point for me to learn music from the silence of the place and openness to other cultures from all over the World. Participated in national and international festivals in Syria and abroad such as the "Syrian Jazz Festival" and the "Sufi Music Festival" Pakistan, India, Iran, Dubai and Qatar. Participation in international festivals and music events in Europe, Spain, France, Germany. Presentation and participation in music workshops.
