Shaelyn Amaio

Montgomery, Alabama

When I was a kid, my family took me on vacation to Walt Disney World and sent me to summer day camps at museums. That's all you really need to know. Now, I'm a history museum educator with a background in content development and project management and a serious love for [almost] all things in the cultural and tourism sectors.

I have an undergrad degree in anthropology, a graduate certificate in museum education, and a masters in museum anthropology. I wrote my thesis on the presentation of history in Disney theme parks, and I did a capstone project on youth employment programs in museums. I've worked and interned in museums in Connecticut, Boston, and New York City, and now I'm living and working in Montgomery, Alabama.

A brief list of things I love to talk about: roadside attractions, museums, my cat, other people's dogs, theme parks, taking pictures, the internet, snail mail, cultural production, gender equality, ice cream.
