Mohamed Shafeeg Mahmood

Mohamed Shafeeg Mahmood is a management professional who has worked at top management positions in the public and private sector over the past 42 years.

Currently he works as Vice President and Commissioner at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives is an independent and autonomous constitutional body.

Prior to this he freelanced as a Business and Media Consultant, and is a writer on international affairs and a public speaker.

He also headed Local Government Authority of Maldives as it's Chief Executive Officer from 2016 to 2020. LGA is an independent state institution established under legislation to oversee, develop and regulate the local government function stipulated in the Constitution.

Mr Shafeeg has worked previously for over three years as Managing Director of Maldives Broadcasting Corporation, the public service broadcaster.

Prior to that Mr Shafeeg has worked several years in airport management and administration at Maldives Airports Co Ltd. The last post held at MACL was Chief Operating Officer. He was also Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Managing Director at MACL and was a member of the Board of Directors.

Mr Shafeeg also served as a member of the Maldives Building and Construction Board from 2018-2020.

Mr Shafeeg was also Principal Consultant and Managing Partner at Solaris Business Consultancy. SBC was a business consulting firm specialising in aviation, airports, tourism, media and training and advisory services. The firm was in operation for over ten years.

He likes to spend his free time in travel, photography, classical music and reading.

Mr Shafeeg holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Charles Sturt University of Australia.
