SHAFT Dundee

A University of Dundee student led society- SHAFT aims, to provide on campus an open forum of uncensored and honest/ rational debate and discussion. Everyone is welcome.

Founding Statement
“Having founded DUAS in 2009, I am proud to have created the first example of an atheist or secularist society at the University of Dundee. Together with my inaugural committee, we are thrilled to have set out, and achieved, many of our initial aims. We have encouraged the importance of open and uncensored religious discussion. We have aided in dispelling myths surrounding what atheism is, and reduced the stigma attached to the word. We have promoted secularism on campus, and brought about a general awareness that there are a great many atheists on campus, and discovered through survey that the proportion may be surprisingly high - we have been noticed, and we have found a much needed voice in university matters.” - David Bajek, 2010.
