Shaheim Kellum

Meet Shaheim Kellum, a student from Borough of Manhattan Community College, Shaheim exemplifies resilience and a commitment to making a difference. Despite facing significant health challenges, including a stroke and subsequent heart surgery, he has emerged stronger, more determined, and with a renewed sense of purpose.

Shaheim's journey emphasizes that setbacks don't define us; they refine us. He found solace and strength in his studies, achieving academic excellence with a 4.0 GPA and earning a place on the Dean's List. His motto, "Strive for progress, not perfection," guides his journey.

His leadership skills are evident in his involvement with numerous extracurricular programs, such as the Accelerated Study Associate Programs (ASAP), Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the Urban Male Leadership Academy (UMLA) under the Black Male Initiative (BMI), and the National Society of Leadership and Success Honor Society (NSLS). He also served as the Secretary Officer of the Accounting Club while a student at Borough of Manhattan Community College.

His achievements speak for themselves—Shaheim is a two-time BMCC Achievers recipient, a winner of the HADD Business Pitch competition sponsored by “The People’s Shark” Daymond John, and an active member of various leadership programs. 🏆 His commitment to excellence has earned him recognition, but it is his humility, determination, and focus on giving back that truly set him apart.
