Grasp the knowledge, discover the skills and be empowered to achieve a healthier you!
I am a registered dietitian and a public health nutritionist working in private practice in medical and rehabilitation clinics across the GTA. I hold a MSc in Public Health Nutrition, a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dietetics, and a BSc in Nutrition. After completing my first degree, I worked for the Food Standards Agency (FDA equivalent) in London, UK. I then embarked on further studies at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and advanced my knowledge of human nutrition vis à vis food, diet & health at a biological, social, policy and population level. To enrich my expertise, I pursued my dietetics qualification and successfully achieved my registration with the Health Professions Council in the UK as well as the College of Dietitians of Ontario. My passion for research and evidence based medicine has led me to contribute to a book on nutrition in ethnic minority groups, with a particular focus on vitamin D deficiency in the South Asian community.
Since becoming a registered dietitian, I have worked in an acute and community setting and specialise in weight management, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. My other areas of focus include management of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, gastric issues, osteoporosis, general healthy eating, ocular nutrition, pregnancy & lactation and paediatric nutrition.
My unique and rich multi-cultural background allows me to identify with a wide spectrum of people and communicate in several South Asian languages.
Empowering you to achieve a healthier lifestyle is my goal!
