Shaima Madboly, a radio host, reporter and producer at Sweden's Public Radio (SR), is an independent Swedish Egyptian journalist, lecturer and researcher on so-called peace journalism and non-violence who lives between Sweden and Spain. She is also a co-founder and Executive director at Support Action center for Peace in Stockholm.
As a journalist and researcher since 2008, Shaima worked in print, TV, radio, and longform as reporter, presenter, producer and political commentator. Her work appeared in France 24, BBC among many other international, european and local media outlets. She reported on gender, politics, civil and human rights, environment besides conflict, post- conflict and war events from Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Western Sahara, Plastine, Turkey, Ukraine and others besides reporting on Swedish affairs.
She has behind her interdisciplinary education in pedagogy, history, journalism, political science and Non-violence at a university level from Alexandria, Cairo, Canadian Royal Roads and Stockholm Universities. She has also consulted the UN in Cairo and International Center for Journalists ICJ in Washington, DC. Shaima worked also as communications manager at the Arab Theater in Stockholm (Awarded the 18th UNESCO Prize for Arab Culture).
Previously Shaima worked in international development on projects in unstable areas funded by the European Union, UNESCO, Folke Bernadotte Academy, SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency) and the Swedish government. It may be worth to mention that Shaima has received awards from the Egyptian Journalists’ Union, the Goethe Institute and other organizations for her reporting. Shaima was also honored as “ Democracy ambassador” forSweden's Women's Lobbyyear 2018, the umbrella organization for all Swedish women's organizations.
