I’m Shakiera Tayob — a purpose-driven entrepreneur, publisher, and humanitarian with over two decades of leadership across South Africa’s media, nonprofit, and digital sectors. I am the Founder and Chairperson of The Independent Newspaper Group, which publishes The Fordsburg Independent and The Sandton Independent, and the driving force behind The South African Shoppers Guides, AutoLocate, and key community expos like Joburg Souk and the Sports, Health & Wellness Expo.

I serve as President of two impactful NPOs:

The Independent Welfare Organisation, a non-denominational charity serving vulnerable communities across South Africa.

One Ummah South Africa, a faith-based organisation providing Zakaat-compliant aid to Muslim families locally and internationally — always with transparency and Shari’ah compliance.

As COO of Halaalish.com, I’m pioneering H-Commerce — a digital marketplace for Halaal-friendly products and services, co-developed with my daughters.

My work bridges commerce, community, and compassion — and my mission remains consistent: To uplift lives with integrity, innovation, and impact.
