Shamik Walton
Over the course of the past 30 years, Shamik Walton has played an important role in the New York City Police Department, from which he retired in 2011. As a Community Policing Officer, Shamik Walton served as a community liaison and earned 25 medals for bravery. Mr. Walton also functioned as a Narcotics Investigator, closing upwards of 70 cases related to major drug sales. As the Chief of the Patrol Office’s Investigations and Evaluations Section, Mr. Walton reviewed and monitored a patrol service of 28,000 officers. He held a number of other titles on the force, such as Platoon Commander, Investigative Team Leader, Special Operations Lieutenant, and Operations Coordinator. To disseminate his knowledge of police work, Shamik Walton functioned as an Adjunct Professor in Criminal Justice at Monroe College. He also spent two years providing curriculum for the Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Education Center for Career Services. Following the cessation of hostilities in Bosnia, Mr. Walton worked in conjunction with the United Nations and Dyncorp as an International Police Monitor. His job was to assist with the reorganization of the country’s police force. For this, Mr. Walton was honored with two United Nations medals for Excellent Service. Before launching his career as a police officer, Shamik Walton spent five years as a Corrections Officer with the New York State Department of Corrections. Shamik Walton holds a Bachelor of Science in Management of Human Resources and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He is a graduate of the 212th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy. He also holds a certificate in criminal justice from the University of Virginia. An active member of his professional community, Shamik Walton is a member of the F.B.I. National Academy Associates, the American Society of Industrial Security, and the American Academy for Professional Law Enforcement.
