Data Scientist in Bengaluru, India
My name is Shan Mehrotra and I am 23 years old.
My interest in engineering developed when I saw many machines around me while growing up. I had the penchant of trying and repairing all the damaged machines used by my mother at home like radio, mixer and grinder etc. As I grew up I developed the interest in the field of computer science. During my school days I used to come across several day to day problems and every time I wondered if there is any solution to these problems? Because of the problems I faced, I finally decided to find the solution of the problems in the career of engineering and hence took admission and began my engineering in information technology from College of Engineering Roorkee in 2010.
During the past four years of my Btech, I realized that I have to do something, to resolve the problems of the common people, so initially I developed programming skills and learned many languages like C, CUDA, JAVA, MATLAB, ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE, PYTHON, SQL, HADOOP and after learning these languages I finally thought to make use of these languages.
In 2012, I started working on a project on improving upon the seating allocation system in Indian railways, under the guidance of Dr.Puneet Goyal, which is now on the verge of completion. I hope that after the completion of this project, huge improvement can be done in seating allocation system of Indian railways. I have worked on many more projects like implementation of multiple face detection algorithm. I am passionate about parallel computing, I like to parallelize the sequential algorithms. I have also parallelized the optimized matching pursuit algorithm.
After the completion of Btech in 2014 I got a placement in Infosys but as my dream was to study further and for that I needed to apply for master’s degree, so I gave exam of GATE and secured 99.11 percentile and joined IIIT Bangalore for Mtech. In the last semester of MTech I worked as a Big Data Analyst at AIG.
Presently I am working as a Data Scientist at Media iQ Digital.
