Shane was born in Joliet on November 5, 1972, and grew up in a family that valued community service and a strong work ethic—principles that have guided him both personally and professionally. As a young man, Shane was deeply involved in sports and developed a keen interest in the arts, particularly music and photography, which have remained lifelong passions. He pursued higher education at Eastern Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1994. Shane's professional journey began at Stepan Company in Elwood, Illinois, in 1996. He started as a QA Lab Technician, where his meticulous approach to quality assurance and safety quickly set him apart from his peers. His exceptional performance led to a promotion to QA Team Leader in 1999, a role in which he excelled until 2003, consistently ensuring that production met rigorous quality standards.

In 2004, Shane transitioned to a role that would leverage his leadership skills more extensively, becoming a Production Shift Leader. This position marked the beginning of a significant phase in his career, where he could directly influence operational procedures and outcomes. His leadership in this role was instrumental, leading to a promotion to Production Team Leader in 2006. Shane was responsible for managing critical production departments, including Blends, Drum Dry, and Drum Out, where he implemented innovative processes that enhanced both productivity and safety.

From 2010 to 2013, Shane managed the Amphoteric department, further honing his skills in streamlining production processes and maintaining stringent safety protocols. His dedication and strategic insight led to his promotion in 2013 to Senior Team Leader for the Phthalic Anhydride and Polymers division. In this capacity, Shane managed a diverse team and tackled complex production challenges, ensuring that operations were not only efficient but also aligned with the highest safety standards.
