Shanila Essa

Shanila Essa is driven to provide clients with design solutions and services to match their needs. As the owner of her own design/project management business, she works with clients in need of remodeling services, provides them with solutions, and then, as needed, identifies the right team to get her clients’ visions to reality.
Trained as an Architectural Designer (Massachusetts College of Art, 1997), she strives to make her clients’ spaces look fresh and gives careful attention to key details such as scale and proportion, color and texture. She can work with a variety of aesthetics, respecting existing integrity of the space or completely overhauling the look of a space, if required.

Most of her recent work is on residential renovations, extensions, and small commercial space refreshes. Some of her recent projects include designing and managing a project of building an in-law suite in an unfinished basement and designing an extension to an existing house to add a bathroom, mud-room and sunroom. Some of her other projects include redesigning a bathroom and the kitchen in an older house. She is experienced with Sketchup-PRO and related software for floor plans, 3D modeling. She is adept at getting permits and other paperwork done to get the projects going.

Shanila lives with her husband and two teenagers in a home in Atlanta that she completely redesigned herself. Prior to taking time off to concentrate on her kids, she worked in a corporate design studio and owned her own home furnishing store along with an online furniture business. She enjoys cooking and hiking and loves to travel.
