Researcher and Student in Tel Aviv, Israel
I am currently pursuing post-doctoral research studies at Tel Aviv University in Israel. I am learning so much more than before about light-matter interactions (science), the culture of Israel and the manner in which academia works. I conducted my doctoral research at Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology on a very interesting topic which will eventually provide us insight into super efficient photo-voltaic systems to generate electricity. I worked with a polar oxide crystal called Lithium Niobate, which is a man made material. I studied its structure, properties and performed various experiments to understand the light induced charge transport mechanism (how and why does it generate current when exposed to light). In this process, I discovered an effect called the Piezo-Photovoltaic effect. In simple words, I discovered that the amount of current produced during the conversion of light to electricity can be increased by orders of magnitude, simply by applying stress on the material. This discovery is expected to improve the current knowledge about solar-cells. If you want to listen to me talk about it, you can find it here or here. If you want to read in depth about my work you can read my article here.
A link to my Google scholar profile will give you the research direction I had been taking through the years.
