Shannon McCrae
My name is Shannon McCrae. I am a student at the University of Georgia majoring in Psychology.
I hope to graduate with a PhD in Psychology and help United States soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I decided I wanted to follow this career path because of the influence my grandfather had on me. He was a soldier in WWII who also suffered from PTSD and then became the Chief Psychiatrist at the VA in Atlanta, Georgia and became one of the pioneers to finding a treatment for the condition.
I grew up about thirty minutes outside of Atlanta, but I went to a very small private high school in Dacula, Georgia giving me the feeling of growing up in a small town. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and being outdoors.
I LOVE DOGS! I have always grown up with big dogs including Rottweilers, Bullmastiffs, and Dobermen. My family has two Bullmastiffs right now and I miss living at home with them.
I am also very close to my parents and my best friend Anneliese. I hang out with my parents a lot and we have a really great relationship. I have known Anneliese since I was eight years old and we are more like sisters than friends. I truly consider her family to be my family and vice versa.
I have had a very blessed life filled with smiles and laughter and I could not ask for anything more.
