I am the Associate Director for Research and Education at the Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences on the Medical College of Virginia Campus at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). In this role, I provide leadership and vision for library instruction, research services, public services, and outreach programs. Shannon’s research interests center on the provision of library instructional services and research support in an increasingly networked environment, integration of emerging technologies in libraries, and new librarian recruitment and retention. Shannon received a Masters in Library Science from North Carolina Central University (NCCU), an M.Ed from VCU, and the MIS from NCCU. In addition, to the MLS, Shannon also holds a BA in English from North Carolina State University. and a Masters in Information Science from NCCU. Shannon is currently working toward completing a M.Ed. in Adult Learning with an emphasis in Teaching with Technology at VCU.
