Shannon Lee

Welcome to the Teaching English Language Learners Part 2 through Queens University! I am so happy to be your course instructor as we work through the material together and learn alongside and from each other. I have been teaching this course for over 15 years. Please allow me to take a moment to introduce myself.

I have been teaching for almost 25 years. I have had experience teaching for two different boards in Ontario and at a variety of Grade levels. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of school settings. These experiences have allowed me to work with many colleagues and collaborate on a variety of leadership teams in and around the province. Currently I am in a Principal position. I can see teaching and learning taking place every day! Previously in my career I was a consultant in my board where I worked with numerous administrators, teachers and Superintendents from Grades K - 12 in all subject areas to carry out Board as well as Ministry initiatives. As part of this role I also worked closely with senior administration on ESL/ELD responsibilities and professional development within the Board. I also have had experiences writing for the Ministry, my board, as well as publishers in Ontario. These experiences have afforded me the opportunity to work with a variety of people and learn from them.

Five years ago I got married to my husband after almost 10 years of dating. I also took a year off unpaid from my Board and travelled both with and without him. This was a year I will remember forever. My interests outside of teaching are travelling and staying healthy. I enjoy all aspects of fitness. I run, do cardio machines, lift weights (heavy ones I might add), and yoga. I entered my first fitness competition July 2015 and won. I have since done two more and placed quite well. I also love to travel. I have been to Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bora Bora, Canada, Canary Islands, Chile, Cuba, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Grand Cayman, Grand Turk, Greece, Grenada, Honduras, Indonesia, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Saint Kitts, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Spain, Sweden, Tahiti, Thailand, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, and The United States.
