Shannon Taylor
Teacher, parent, and Creator in Hamilton, ON
Hey there, I’m Shannon. My pronouns are they/them, and students call me Mx. Taylor. I’m an educator and creator living in Hamilton, ON. I love to make and do all things creative! I'm particularly into visual arts, making music, and DIY-anything.
My teaching path has been a winding one! I am certified in J/I with a focus on the arts (visual art, music, drama, and dance), and I also hold an RECE certification. I am currently an Elementary OT with HWDSB, and my most current experiences include a string of LTOs in Kindergarten, which I have loved.
I am taking the Primary ABQ in order to bridge a gap in my Professional Learning, to deepen and broaden my knowledge and skills, and gain some essential tools and resources I feel I have been missing as a a J/I-teacher-who-also-is-an-ECE-and-has-recently-been-teaching-primary! I am especially interested in strengthening my Primary Literacy knowledge and resources, so that I can build a robust and effective program that honors equity of outcomes for all learners. I am also very passionate about equity and inclusion, as well as learning new ways to use emergent-curriculum models through the primary grades.
I'm looking forward to working and learning alongside everyone this summer!
