If you know me, you know my best friends. We call ourselves “The Stemmies”. I understand it is a little cliché for a friend group to have a name, but in time, you will realize it just makes sense. We met my freshman year of high school in chemistry class, and have been inseparable since then. “The Stemmies” is not just a random name; we were all a part of the STEM program at my highschool, so we took the program’s name and ran with it. This friend group is the reason I am who I am today. We were all extremely academically focused, so focused that we graduated with the top eight GPA’s in our class. We incorporated the idea of a friendly competition into every single test and quiz there was. I am not one to back down from a challenge, so I was practically forced to become a better student over the years. These friendly competitions turned into one big competition for the highest GPA. I took more AP classes in order to boost my GPA, which caused me to develop a passion for math and science, guiding me in my decision to major in biochemistry here. I literally would not be here without them. Of course, we also had our fair share of fun over the years showing me it is possible while still being a good student. I am so thankful to have had such a great group of friends who changed me for the better. Sadly, college has pulled us our separate ways, but the love and the competition will never end.
