Shannon Taylor is a senior at the University of Delaware. She is working towards a Bachelor of the Arts in Biological Sciences and a minor in Anthropology. Shannon takes pride in being a Wilmington, Delaware native, but intends to broaden her horizons outside of "The Small Wonder."
Aside from academics, Shannon is a NCAA Division I collegiate athlete on the University of Delaware Women's Rowing team. During her fall and spring semesters, she devotes 20 hours a week towards rowing and annually represents the University of Delaware in multiple prestigious regattas. Since she began rowing as a high school freshman in 2008, it has positively impacted her identity as a committed, cooperative, and motivated individual. Through athletics, Shannon has acquired valuable work ethic skills, such as time-management and leadership.
Shannon aspires to pursue a career in Optometry, which stems from her interest in the fundamental sciences and a desire to assist others. She also enjoys being involved in volunteer activities, such as the PNC Bank Thanksgiving Day Run/Walk for MS and Girls on the Run. In addition to Optometry and volunteering, Shannon has a newfound passion for traveling and running 5k's.
After graduation, Shannon plans on gaining health care experience by shadowing local Optometrists, volunteering at the Christiana Care Health System or the Wilmington VA Medical Center, and laboratory research. As well as professional activities, she is traveling to Italy and experiencing other cultures before applying to Optometry schools.
