Sharifa Khan
Sharifa Khan has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and public relations. She specializes in ethnic marketing communication which includes advertising, public and media relations, community relations and event management. Prior to co-founding Balmoral, she was a consultant, media director and shareholder at one of the major marketing/advertising firms in Toronto. At Balmoral Marketing, Sharifa leads a team of seasoned ethnic marketing professionals to service corporate, government and non-profit organizations – guiding them to conquer new markets in Canada. Sharifa was awarded in 1999 a federal recognition from Prime Minister Jean Chrétien for her entrepreneurial success. She was the first female President of the Toronto Chinese Business Association, and the first minority group female Vice President of the Canadian Club. She sat on many boards such as Toronto Board of Trade, United Way of Greater Toronto, and Canada Post. She co-founded the Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival and was instrumental in the success and popularity of this multicultural event in Canada. She was the Chair of the 2006 Toronto Club Crew Dragon Boat World Championships and successfully lobbied three level of government for $23 million to build a new watercourse at Toronto’s waterfront. Sharifa is currently on the Board of Governors of the Mount Sinai Hospital and a director of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Studies with major in Marketing and has received accreditation from the Canadian Institute of Advertising.
