Sharima Umaya

Hello, everyone! My name is Sharima Umaya but you can call me Rima for short. I was born in Jakarta, on March 20th 1994. I’m currently taking Bioprocess Engineering in University of Indonesia, aspiring to create my own food product someday while also campaigning on social issues, especially hunger to create this world a better place to live.

Yes, you can tell that I’ve got a huge interest in food. But not only that, my other passion lies in social activism. Back when I was in primary school, I've always wanted to do something for the society. And in 2010, I finally managed to do so. In 2010, me alongside with 4 other youth discovered Look Around Indonesia (LAR). LAR is a non govermental organization which aims to increase youth awareness towards their surroundings, by holding various social activities. Until now, LAR already has hundreds of volunteers and we just established a branch in Bandung, West Java.

I also love traveling A LOT and dying to witness Aurora Borealis. I traveled to Norway once in 2013 to participate in a thematic workshop about food - which is my passion at International Student Festival in Trondheim. However, I didn't get the chance to see Aurora Borealis :p During my spare times, I love to read and I read almost everything from books, Twitter timeline, people’s Blogs, and even Nutrition Facts in food products
