Rick Raymond

Detroit, Michigan

My go-by name is Rick. I have been involved with the automotive industry for the majority of 40 years beginning with over 20 years as a technician. I went through the first electronic controls for the automobile introduction while many technicians gave up. My career led to training and management while still diagnosing problems with computerized automobiles. I have built racing teams, racing engines, chassis and driven race cars. I authored the power train and drive train sections of the service manual for the first Chrysler Crossfire. Author of training manuals for Ford, Chrysler, and GM. Developed and authored content for technical bulletins for all 3 US auto makers. Held part time positions as IT admin and database administrator. I owned and operated my personal computer repair business. Held warranty administrator position for Isuzu heavy truck and diesel engine and all Isuzu vehicles. I invented the first automobile memory saver using a flashlight to supply just enough voltage to the BCM and other modules to retain memory presets while the battery was disconnected (1978). I held shop foreman and service manager positions at 2 large dealerships in TX. Franchise manager for National Automotive comprised of 5 separate facilities in FL. Worked at Boeing Missiles & Space Co. at Kennedy Space Center managing the Heavy Equipment group. I currently manage the vehicle diagnosis for OnStar ODD. I interact with GM brand quality, GM powertrain, OnStar enterprise, and GM vehicle engineering in this position. I designed and populated the vehicle indicator web tool used by OnStar advisers to aid subscribers in understanding what the tell tale lights mean and what they should do about them.
