Sharol Magaela

Student, Small Business Owner, and Hair Stylist in Johannesburg

I am a third-year Bachelor of Education student at the University of Johannesburg, specializing in Life Sciences and ICT. My studies emphasize pedagogy that integrates technology with learner-centered approaches, helping students develop essential 21st‑century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy.

In a world that is constantly evolving, I believe education must adapt to prepare learners with resilience and innovation. My involvement in the COIL project on food security and sustainability with Canada gave me the opportunity to engage with diverse perspectives and explore innovative approaches to global challenges. As a tutor for first-year Life Sciences, I put these principles into practice by guiding learners to connect concepts with real-world contexts and develop confidence in their studies. Outside of my studies, reading books inspires me and expands my perspective, strengthening the creativity I bring into my teaching practice.
